Phase 3 Designing Happiness

Context Interface

External Perspective

Interactive Theatre

The aim of the proposal is to create a space that distorts reality for the users. From the rule set, many degrees of distortion suggest a sequence of constructed atmospheres, leading up to the creation of an interactive theatre. The proposal is divided into 4 spaces. The tower plot in the middle serves as a lookout tower, the first place to attract the crowd into. In the tower, views of each 3 corresponding spaces give a sort of spoiler/trailer of what the space offer. From the street level, passersby would otherwise be unable to see the programs going on inside.

Site Analysis

The chosen site is Sukhumvit 55 / Thonglor R. The analysis focused on the human (pedestrians) flow around the area. From the Situationists' ideas in The Naked City where Paris is mapped through psychogeography, meaning that each area of the city is taken out of its geographical context and arranged through narrative and the human drift.

Here, Thonglor is mapped through the drift throughout the night. The location and program of each spaces is then determined according to the drift of each time frame, making the appropriate space relevant for the corresponding time frame.
