Sadness Machine
What is Sadness? Generally speaking, Sadness is the opposite of Happiness. Sadness could be an emotional pain associated with, or characterized by feelings of disadvantage, loss, despair, grief, helplessness, disappointment and sorrow. Every human being has suffered. Suffering could be range from simple to extreme. One’s could suffer from personal incident, or the other, could be as simple as bending down uncomfortably. Suffering is the main cause of sadness which is an essential part of life. However, sadness can sometimes be exceedingly overwhelming and the victims were stuck inside the cage of sorrow, isolated themselves, suffered intensely and considered giving up at life.
Sadness Machine aims to modify spaces inside Lumpini Park to create public experiential spaces that binds sad individuals together. The project consists of 4 pavilions; pavement, grass, water and tree. Each pavilion reacts with diverse aspect of the park as well as aims to counteract altering form of sadness. The spaces can be experienced in a non-sequential order. The experience of each walk in the park are distinct as individual absorbs energy from nature and go through pavilions at varying stages to find consolation and rise from agony.
