Phase 2.2 : Happiness Machine: The Skate Cafe

The Skate Cafe

Skateboarding was born from the side-walk. The Skaters were using whatever they found to create as an obstacle that they could over come. But unfortunately the pedestrians believes that skaters tends to breaks and damage the objects around the footpath, so the skaters had to move somewhere else and that is why the skateparks are created. But this completely separated the two groups of people from one another.
In Bangkok Skateboarding aren't as famous as in other countries because the footpath aren't smooth enough to be playable and there aren't any skateparks around let alone a open public space for the people and this is a great problem. The Skate Cafe intend to be set in any empty space in down-town Bangkok. The Cafe will act like a public space that could be used for both the pedestrians and the skaters. The pedestrians could stop in after work to relax and enjoy the experience, the movement and even the speed of skateboarding without having to play them self. The pop-up cafe hopes to create the realization of the need of public space around Bangkok.
